Lou Miranda Estate
A family tradition since 1939.
In one way or another, our family has been working on our wines for more than 70 years. It started when our nonno (grandfather), Francesco Miranda came to Australia in 1938. The one thing he knew from his southern Italian upbringing was that good wine was as important as a loving family and close friends. He arrived in Griffith, New South Wales and set about building his dream. His son Lou has spent a lifetime building on his father’s passion while adding his own unique style. That led to the development of the boutique winery Lou Miranda Estate, in the heart of the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Now we are proud to introduce the family’s premium quality wines, Primo Amore and Leone. Our grandfather used to say that he could only make great wine with great fruit. This simple but effective philosophy is reflected in all that we do today, from our rigorous approach to vineyard management to consistency and discipline over fruit selection. With every vintage, we want our Primo Amore and Leone wines to accurately reflect their variety and region, while ensuring excellent fruit flavours, taste and satisfaction. Our objective is to create a unique wine experience combining traditional family elements and world-class wine making techniques. We hope you enjoy our Primo Amore and Leone range of Barossa premium wines as much as we do. The winery and cellar door of Lou Miranda Estate has all the character of early Mediterranean architecture but was only built in 1999. Beginning with the mushroom shade of the exterior to the fine bluestone detail of the tower. The colour of the building was matched as closely as possible to the neighbouring Lutheran Church. The interior detail gives an impression of space and warmth emphasised by the mosaic dog guarding the entrance, wooden floors, unique decorative steel work, Jeroboam light fittings and the recycled wooden beams in the main section of the building. Maximum use of natural light is a feature from the large windows in the entrance to the leadlights in the tower, skylights over the restaurant and the beautiful filtered light that comes in from the barrel cellar by the bar. Miranda Restaurant is open for lunch Thursday to Tuesday and public holidays (closed Wednesday) from 1130 to 1430 and is situated in the beautiful cellar door. Our menu reflects the seasons with its modern interpretation of classic Italian cuisine. The aroma of fresh ingredients from the winery garden greets you as you enter the cellar door. Local produce also features in our Chef’s delectable dishes. You, your family and friends will be greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere then relax in a tranquil setting while enjoying a delicious luncheon experience. If you are looking for an intimate venue to celebrate your special day? We can accommodate 120 guests, who will be impressed by the elegant surrounds and impeccable service of Miranda Restaurant.
